Personnel Information System

This system makes available basic information about staff from the company’s personnel system.

In most business situations, information in the personnel system is a closely guarded secret. However this is an undesirable expense to the business, as much of the data in the personnel system will be duplicated in other databases and/or lists. For example the internal telephone list

This database software makes use of the particular advantages of ODBC by giving a read-only VIEW of the public domain part only of the Personnel System’s data tables. Thus producing a listing of Name, Phone Number, Department, particular expertise etc.

The data that is revealed is then displayed on an internal web page.  Thus allowing management and staff alike to view important information about their fellow employees.  This is one of the few systems we have seen where the internal phone numbers and job titles of staff are kept up-to-date.
